... I still see it in my mind and it takes me back...

Stepping outside someone else's expectations can lead to a lot of difficulty for people who want to keep you in your place and who really don't want you to succeed in your new path. These people are called begrudgers! The album contains three songs about my family, one about my mother, one about my father and one about my uncle and his sweetheart.  There's also a co-write with Paddy Egan  - The Lockdown Blues 2020.  Paddy's daughters Anne and Patricia provide harmony vocals for this one.  There's also a co-write with Kate O'Neill from Waterford.

One More Christmas takes an honest look at Christmas from the point of view of an older couple looking back over their lives and looking forward to an uncertain future with hope and optimism.

Mick is joined here on main vocals by Nikki O'Donnell with additional vocals from Anne Fleming & Niamh Feely.  Other musicians are Sharon O'Donnell (flute), Eva McAneaney (violin), Ciara Hughes (percussion) and Paul O'Toole (guitar and harmonica)

I'll Be There has nine original songs. Six of them were co-written with Kate O'Neill and came about through a songwriting workshop held in Ardmore, Co. Waterford in summer 2018.  Two were written with Chris Burke, a bandmate in DK Tuesdays, who I met at Darkey Kelly's Tuesday Songwriter Night in 2013.  The final song, I Can't Pretend, is a solo effort

The Man Who Invented Swimming was released in November 2007. The songs on this album cover a wide variety of topics. Some are serious, some are funny, some are personal, some are political and all are about real experiences. The stories in Mick's songs are based on real life, real people and issues that he cares about. He also writes songs just for the sheer fun of it. The Man Who Invented Swimming reflects all these aspects of his work.

My Old Neighbours are Mick Brady and Mick O'Doherty.  They have played together in several bands over many years.  Stuff We Made Up contains ten original songs.

Triple The Pickle is a collaboration between Mick Brady and U.S. children's poet Jeff Mondak.  Jeff wrote the lyrics for the album and asked Mick to write and record the music.  The songs are for children and but will be enjoyed by anyone who has a sense of fun.  Topics dealt with include school life, kitchen gadgets, zombies, pickles, animals of the Serengeti and much more besides. DK Tuesdays are Chris BurkeSyl Burke and Mick Brady.  The band grew out of the singer/songwriter sessions in Darkey Kelly's on Tuesday nights.The album contains twelve original songs - four written by each member of the group.

...on the road between the desert and the deep blue sea...

 

 

Happy That He's Made It This Far was released in April 2010.The songs were written on a trip to Arizona and California in 2008. They describe what was experienced and observed on that journey. Many were written in the desert around Joshua Tree. Topics dealt with include honky-tonks in the desert, country singers and their hats, an encounter with a down-and-out busker, the excesses of consumerism, religious orthodoxy and a song in memory of Gram Parsons.

Paint My Coffin Whorehouse Red is an album of humorous and satirical songs.  The title track was inspiried by an article in The Irish Times in April 2008 about a guy who scattered his grandfather's ashes in a strip club in L.A    https://www.irishtimes.com/life-and-style/in-the-lap-of-the-gods-1.917355

 

I Love My Wife and My Malaprop Baby were co-written with Jeff Mondak Thierry, What's The Story...? was co-written with Richie Maguire - who sings lead vocal on that track.
